Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic:
The manufacturer DEB drivers have dependency issues since libcupsys is now libcups in karmic. To install the drivers, extract the .deb packages and manually copy the files to you filesystem. Then you need to manually specify the canonmp190.ppd in your printer configuration. It seems you must also set the file /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij to be owned by root and have read-only permissions for everyone.
