RPM packages cndrvcups-common and cndrvcups-ufr2-uk provided by Canon must be installed first. Linux kernel provided by Mandriva 2010.1 does not contain the \"usblp\" module, necessary for the Canon driver. Install the kernel source package, and activate the kernel configuration option \"Device drivers\", \"USB support\", \"USB Printer support\" to be built as a module. Compile and install the customized kernel, then reboot and select it in the boot menu. When the desktop is loaded, connect the printer. It will be detected. Choose the driver from the database. It will find the Canon driver. Alternatively, the PPD file can be found in /usr/share/cups/model/ . This procedure has been tested on both 32 and 64 bits architectures (Canon provides drivers for both). Other Linux distributions may not need the long step of kernel recompilation, if they already include the usblp module in their pre-compiled kernel.
