I have installed this printer on two recent versions of Debian 9.0 (Stretch). The printer is attached via wired ethernet to a local network. The printer is defined in /etc/hosts as: 192.168.0.10 lpr.localdomain lpr The printer has a web interface accessible at http://lpr.localdomain . Install cups (as root): # apt-get install cups and open the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631 . Add printer with connection AppSocket/HP JetDirect connection: socket://lpr.localdomain:9100 For Cups version 2.2.1-2, I used the driver: Brother HL-2240 Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e For Cups version 2.2.1-8, I used the driver: Brother HL-2250DN - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.11 Both drivers seem to work. Use the Cups web interface to change the resolution to 600dpi. I didn't get double-sided printing to work yet. This printer is sold as the HL-L2365DW in OfficeWorks in Australia. Overall one of my most pleasant printer installation experiences.
