* the file "cupsaddsmb-compiled-by-kpfeifle-for-SuSE-7.3" is the binary as compiled by me on my SuSE 7.3 box. I don't know if it works for you, if you just copy it to your system and make it executable as "cupsaddsmb" -- but here is its listing of dynamic dependencies: --> kde4@kde-bitshop:~> ldd /usr/sbin/cupsaddsmb /usr/lib/tconn.so => /usr/lib/tconn.so (0x40017000) libcups.so.2 => /usr/lib/libcups.so.2 (0x4001b000) libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x400ef000) libcrypt.so.1 => /lib/libcrypt.so.1 (0x40105000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x40139000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40261000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000) * the package "samba-2.2.6-pre2.i386.rpm" is compiled by me on the same system from CVS after the recent "big printing patch" applied by Jerry. I don't know if it will work for anyone else -- but I couldn't use the current Beta-version of a new samba-2.2.5 RPM package offered by the responsible SuSE maintainer, because there "cupsaddsmb" didn't work at all... (Sorry, Lars!) --> you can find a listing of the files and install paths in "list-of-files-in-samba-RPM-package.txt" * the file "cupsaddsmb.text-material.tar.gz" contains two typscripts which logged various of my commands on my system. --> "typescript-various-commands-concerning-cupsaddsmb.txt": exporting drivers with "cupsaddsmb", checking success or failure, listing directories before and after the command, installing a driver + printer via download on to a WinXP box, printing from the WinXP box, checking for the spooled files. --> "typescript-rpcclient-manually-adddriver-various-loglevels.txt": shows that the "rpcclient adddriver" command even fails on my system, also the "cupsaddsmb" command from CUPS works perfectly. In order to make it easier to navigate through the long typescripts, I have edited some headings into them. If you search for the keyword "NEWSECTION", you can jump to the next section easily without long scrolling.... Happy CUPS-ing! 10th of September, 2002, early morning hours.... Kurt Pfeifle
