Package Description

Release Date:  October 08, 2002

PSLevel1 supports printing in Mac OS X (Jaguar and later) to first-generation LaserWriters that require PostScript Level1 input.

The PostScript driver that Apple ships with Mac OS X will generate only Level2 or Level3 output. PSlevel1 works with Ghostscript to convert the Postscript output provided by Mac OS X into a Level1 compatible format. On Mac OS X, printing with PSLevel1 requires Ghostscript (an open-source PostScript interpreter), cups-o-matic (a CUPS filter script), and a foomatic PPD for each supported printer.

Installation Notes

  • The cups-o-matic filter included in this package is the forerunner of the Foomatic-RIP filter. No benefit will be gained by installing the latest Foomatic-RIP filter.
